Description 020212-EMI12.jpg Kwazulu Natal-So. Africa- Ingwavuma district. The region lies at the epicentre of the African/South African HIV/Aids pandemic, with an infection rate generally over 30% AIDS orphans, the Buthelezi sisters, 5 girls orphaned after their parents died of Aids related illness. Four of the girls attend school, the 5th takes care of her own 2 month baby at home. The girls, in the 3m x 3m hut they share. L-R...Thobile Buthelezi (10) , Bongiwe (18) with her 2 month daughter Celemusa, and Dumazile (8), take care of themselves, collecting water from a nearby stream for cooking, washing etc. They are reliant on material assistance, receiving food provided by a local community organisation which survives on donations from wellwishers Eric Miller /iAfrika Photos
