Description: Kwazulu Natal. Durban February 2004. Lifeline Durban Outreach Project - Ukuba Nesibindi (Centre of Courage). Warwick Street Junction. The area sees about 400 000 people passing through daily to and from work. A volunteer worker from the centre hands out condoms, leaflets and explanations in a local squatter community near the centre. The project aim is to provide easy access to counselling for those at risk of HIV/Aids, where preventive measures can be planned and implemeted, as well as to disseminate HIV/Aids information and support to groups at risk, such as young sex workers, street children and youths who have dropped out of school. The project is one of the Impumelelo Awards projects, which recognise excellence in projects that are government initiated, funded or subsidised. poverty health condom
