Description: 010305-EMI01.jpg CAPE TOWN, SO. AFRICA AIDS DRUGS HIV/Aids activists protest outside the USA Consulate in Cape Town. They were demonstrating against the attempts by pharmaceutical multinationals to prevent the SA government from 'parallel' imports (patented drugs bought in other countries cheaper than they are available in SA) and importing generics instead of using the very high priced anti-retrovirals currently available in South Africa. Description: Cape Town. February 10 2006 Thousands of Muslims staged a disciplined and peaceful march through central city today in response to the 'cartoon saga', the publication of cartoons depicting the prophet Mohammed. Depictions of the prophet are not acceptable to Muslims. Protests in many countries have turned violent resulting in several deaths. The march ran its course peacefully despite a small group of marchers brandishing placards calling for death to the Danes, and tearing Danish flags in violation of the instructions of the leadership.
